Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred.
• Current, unrestricted Virginia Registered Nurse license.
• Current Basic Life Support CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers certification required.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience recommended; medical/surgical nursing or pediatric nursing experience preferred.
• Experience working in a school setting preferred.
• Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate a school clinic.
• Ensure clinic supplies are well stocked and follow ordering and pickup procedures.
• Provide professional nursing care in a school setting.
• Provide nursing assessments and complete proper documentation for students.
• Administer medication and first aid to students.
• Provide skilled nursing care to students with disabilities as needed.
• Document student interactions, medication administration, and parent health concerns within the school district’s database and per protocol.
• Participate in developing and implementing emergency health plans as needed for students with chronic conditions.
• Complete screenings for vision, hearing, height, and weight per the Virginia School Health Guidelines.
