Job summary

Henry County Schools seeks a Nurse for Exceptional Student Education to support health services for students with disabilities within the district. This role reports to the Coordinator of Related Services and requires Georgia RN/LPN licensure, CPR/First Aid, and current nursing experience in education settings.

The nurse will mentor school personnel, collect health data, maintain records, collaborate with physicians, and ensure confidentiality while supporting IEP objectives and health plans.

Qualifications

• LPN or RN licensure in Georgia required.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Minimum 3 years nursing experience, preferred.
• Proven ability to establish rapport with educators, students and parents.
• High integrity, commitment to confidentiality and professional reputation.
• Ability to comply with the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
• Regular, reliable attendance at work.
• Must be physically present at the worksite.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform routine physical activity.
• Ability to supervise students during emergencies.
• Strong communication through vision, hearing, written and verbal means.

Responsibilities

• Mentor school personnel regarding health-related issues.
• Provide services to students with disabilities as needed.
• Improve health-related instruction through classroom visits and demonstrations.
• Convey technical medical information clearly to school personnel.
• Systematically collect health and developmental information on students with disabilities.
• Maintain health records and log health services; prepare reports.
• Collaborate with physicians’ offices to obtain orders for school health procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality; participate in IEP meetings as needed.
• Maintain a comprehensive health plan addressing current and future needs.
• Assist in planning staff development on health-related issues.
• Provide specialized training to staff for health-related procedures to support access to learning.
• Act as liaison between parents, physicians and the school.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator.
