Job summary

Des Moines Public School District in Des Moines, IA seeks a Direct Care Nurse to provide 1:1 skilled nursing care for students with special health care needs during the school day. Immediate start with full-time hours.

Responsibilities include medication administration, health assessments, daily living support, and collaboration with the student’s school team to ensure safe, effective care.

Qualifications

• Iowa RN license required.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Nursing experience in a clinical or school setting required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct skilled nursing care to a student on a 1:1 basis during the school day.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by providers.
• Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor student health.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and Medicaid billing records.
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, family and providers as part of the student’s health team.
• Assist with student transportation as needed.
• Train/orient new staff as assigned.
