Job summary

Northwest Educational Service District 189 seeks a School Nurse to provide health services across Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties. This benefits-eligible role supports Arlington, Bellingham, Marysville, and Sedro-Woolley with a schedule of 8 hours per day, three days per week, across 117 days annually.

The nurse will work under the School Nurse Corps Administrator, ensuring compliance with nursing standards and state regulations while collaborating with schools, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Washington RN license.
• Associate’s degree in nursing or higher; Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nursing preferred.
• Current CPR/First aid certification.
• ESA certificate or willingness to obtain.
• School nurse experience preferred.
• Washington State Patrol and FBI background clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, manage, and deliver school health services in NWESD’s cooperative programs.
• Follow law, regulation, and professional school nursing standards as defined.

Position Summary

The school nurse, under the direction and supervision of the School Nurse Corps Administrator, develops, implements, manages, and delivers school health services in NWESD’s cooperative programs located in Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties. The school nurse scope of practice is defined by law and regulation and professional school nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate’s degree in nursing or higher, Bachelor or Master’s of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current CPR/first aid certification.
• Current Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate (ESA), or willingness to obtain.
• School nurse experience preferred.
• Washington State Patrol and FBI criminal background clearance required.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, stand, and walk. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public, school staff, students, and their families.

Occasionally requires the ability to lift and carry a maximum of 30 pounds.

Hazards: Work is typically performed in an office/classroom environment which may include high noise levels, a wide range of student behaviors, and the potential exposure to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.

Salary Range
