Responsibilities

• Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to the student code of conduct.
• Resolve conflicts between students and report disturbances to the supervisor.
• Investigate complaints, disturbances, or violations.
• Control traffic and parking on campus grounds.
• Register student vehicles and maintain registration records.
• Document, record and report vandalism and theft, and prepare activity reports.
• Assist security staff and law enforcement personnel as needed.
• Escort students, visitors, disruptive individuals, or cargo to designated locations.
• Monitor entrance/exit of persons as required.
• Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent entry of prohibited articles.
• Attend extra-curricular activities and graduation for supervision.
• Maintain professionalism with security staff, DISD staff and community.
• Monitor alarm systems and notify authorities of emergencies.
• Warn violators and take action as necessary, including removal.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities.
• Perform all other tasks as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.

• Control traffic and parking on campus grounds
• Register student vehicles and maintain accurate records of registration
• Document, record and report vandalism and car accidents and prepare activity reports for theft
• Assist law enforcement personnel as needed
• Give directions or escort students, authorized visitors, disruptive individuals or cargo to designated locations
• Monitor entrance or exit of persons, as needed
• Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and properties and prevent passage of prohibited articles into school areas
• Attend extra-curricular activities and graduation to provide student supervision, when necessary
• Maintain a good working relationship and professional demeanor with security personnel, DISD staff, students, parents, and community members
• Monitor alarm system to detect emergencies and notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention
• Warn persons of minor infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
• Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of this job:

• High School Diploma or USA equivalency
• Six months of work related experience; including some experience working with children, youth leadership, coaching, and/or counseling preferred
• Demonstrated ability to recognize public safety hazards
• Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict situations is a plus
• Investigate complaints, disturbances, or violations
• Control traffic and parking on campus grounds
• Knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data and property is a plus
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
