Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor student behavior and enforce the student code of conduct.
• Resolve conflicts and report disturbances to the supervisor.
• Investigate complaints, disturbances, or violations.
• Control traffic and parking on campus grounds.
• Register student vehicles and maintain records.
• Document and report vandalism and incidents.
• Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.
• Escort students and authorized visitors to designated locations.
• Monitor entrances and exits as needed.
• Operate security equipment to screen people and property.
• Attend extracurricular activities to provide supervision.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, students, and community.
• Monitor alarms and notify authorities of emergencies.

• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.

• Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student code of conduct
• Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to immediate supervisor
• Investigate complaints, disturbances, or violations
• Control traffic and parking on campus grounds
• Register student vehicles and maintain accurate records of registration
• Document, record and report vandalism and car accidents and prepare activity reports for theft
• Assist law enforcement personnel as needed
• Give directions or escort students, authorized visitors, disruptive individuals or cargo to designated locations
• Monitor entrance or exit of persons, as needed
• Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and properties and prevent passage of prohibited articles into school areas
• Attend extra-curricular activities and graduation to provide student supervision, when necessary
• Maintain a good working relationship and professional demeanour with security personnel, DISD staff, students, parents, and community members
• Monitor alarm system to detect emergencies and notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention
• Warn persons of minor infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
• Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or USA equivalency
• Six months of work related experience; including some experience working with children, youth leadership, coaching, and/or counseling preferred
• Demonstrated ability to recognize public safety hazards
• Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict situations is a plus
• Investigate complaints, disturbances, or violations
• Control traffic and parking on campus grounds
• Knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data and property is a plus
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
