Job summary

The School District of Philadelphia is seeking an entry level carpenter to perform carpentry work across district facilities. You will construct, maintain, repair and renovate school buildings, doors, locks, window shades and related fixtures in multiple locations.

This position requires at least a high school diploma and three years of experience in carpentry or a related trade, plus the ability to read blueprints and operate power tools safely.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and relevant apprenticeship or experience.
• Three years of experience in carpentry or a related trade.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of safety practices for school facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry work including rough and finished carpentry and blueprint interpretation.
• Repair and install doors, locks, and hardware as part of renovations.
• Install partitions, blackboards, shelving, and window shades.
• Operate power machinery and supervise trainees as needed.
• Estimate materials and assist with work orders.
