Job summary

Muscatine Community School District is seeking a Food Service Worker I for Madison Elementary School in Muscatine, IA. The role is a 9-month position, 3 hours per day (10:30am–1:30pm), with starting pay of $15.17/hour and day-to-day duties supporting food service operations for PreK–12 students.

The job requires strong customer service, good communication, and ability to work with children. Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires bilingual ability or preference for bilingual candidates.
• Must complete a Food Service Sanitation course within 90 days of employment.
• Training includes sanitation, nutrition basics and food preparation principles.

Responsibilities

• Set up service areas and portion/serve food items.
• Clean and store utensils, wash tables and equipment.
• Prepare foods such as fruits/vegetables, sandwiches, etc.
• Operate dishwashers, ovens and other kitchen equipment.
• Help control food and supply costs with proper handling.
• Communicate with students, parents, staff and community.
