Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Maine CHRC.
• Experience in food preparation preferred.
• Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Sanitation and food safety certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals per menus and recipes ensuring proper portions.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and proper storage.
• Follow sanitation and safety procedures to prevent contamination.
• Operate ovens, mixers, and slicers safely.
• Engage with students to provide inviting atmosphere and gather feedback.
• Assist in inventory and ordering of food and supplies.
• Set up serving areas and distribute meals during meal periods.
• Adhere to district policies and state/federal nutrition regulations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff for smooth operations.
• Monitor food temperatures, waste, and meal counts.
• Communicate with staff and supervisors, address concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of records.
• Respect students and staff rights.
• Follow health and safety procedures established by District.
• Report absences and coverage promptly.
• Demonstrate dependability and integrity.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Cook/Food Service Director.
