Job summary

Northshore School District – Arrowhead Elementary in Kenmore, WA is hiring a Cook Assistant to support the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and Kitchen Manager in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students. The position runs 193 days per year, about 3 hours daily, with hourly pay between $20.80 and $25.33.

Applicants must have or obtain a Food Handler’s permit and be able to lift 30 pounds; benefits include SEBB health coverage and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Must be neat, clean, alert, accurate and able to communicate effectively with co-workers, staff and students.
• Requires basic math calculations and ability to follow written instructions.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Must have or obtain a Food Handler’s permit.
• Must be a good role model and enjoy working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and service of all menu items for Breakfast and Lunch.
• Learn and operate equipment such as ovens, ranges, dishwashers, meat slicer, steamers, proofer, mixers.
• Maintain a clean kitchen with sanitary conditions.
• Support the School Meal Pattern lunch program.
• Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, parents and students.
