Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education invites applications for the Cook position at Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD). The role prepares school lunches, orders supplies, and creates meals following USDA guidelines, ensuring health standards and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare school lunch menus according to the rules and regulations developed by the Food Section of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the USDA.
  • Order food supplies following MSSD purchasing procedures.
  • Create and prepare appealing meals utilizing established nutritional guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve food including special diets as ordered by physicians for particular students.
  • Perform kitchen clean-up duties.
  • Follow required health standards of local Department of Health.
  • Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
  • Demonstrate effective safety skills with students, equipment, environment, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and personally identifiable information.
  • Maintain CPR certification at the level determined by the American Heart Association or Red Cross as Basic Life Support Health Care Providers.
  • Participate in staff development as necessary to keep cooking skills and knowledge of food service updated and current.
  • Follow food service skills development training plans for individual students.

Salary: $17.50 an Hour

Please note: The salary range listed in this job description is a base salary. Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above.

What you’ll do:

  • Order food supplies following MSSD purchasing procedures.
