Job summary

Port Huron Area School District Michigamme Elementary School - Port Huron, Michigan is seeking a part-time Media Paraeducator to assist students with reading, research skills, and library activities. Responsibilities include cataloging media, assisting learners, shelving materials, and supporting technology use.

Candidates must meet one of several education requirements and demonstrate a cooperative, student-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Must meet one of the educational requirements listed.
• High school graduate or GED
• Associate’s Degree or 60 college hours
• MTTC or Basic Skills Test (MTTC) or equivalent
• SAT: 480 ERW and 530 Math in lieu of tests
• ETS Parapro Assessment – 460 required
• CPI training or willing to be trained
• Must lift up to 50 pounds and assist students.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the library catalog and circulation system.
• Circulate media materials and assign barcodes to students.
• Enter student data into the circulation database.
• Assist students and teachers with material selection.
• Shelve and re-shelve books and media.
• Promote literacy and new books.
• Provide basic tech support and attend in-service trainings.
