Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 seeks a Paraeducator - Library/Media Center for Elementary (PreK-6). Located district-wide, the role supports instructional media, assists teachers, and maintains the library's materials and records.

Responsibilities include cataloging, inventory, and helping students engage with library resources; 195 workdays annually with 8 hours per day during a 10-month contract. Salary starts at union-defined rates.

Qualifications

• Para Educator license required or equivalent.
• 60 semester hours of college coursework or valid Para Pro/Work Keys credentials.
• Experience working with students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with teachers and students to develop knowledge needed to use library materials.
• Assist teacher with library activities that support classroom instruction.
• Process materials for circulation and maintain library records.
• Catalog new materials, update records, attach barcodes, and prepare annual inventory reports.
• Maintain a positive learning environment in the library/media center.

Education

Para Educator License required
