Job summary

Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College Tumbi Umbi Campus is seeking a School Learning Support Officer to support students with diverse learning needs in classrooms and related settings. The role works under a teacher’s direction to help achieve educational outcomes and student wellbeing.

Essential requirements include Working with Children Check, department training, and health support. Multiple ongoing full-time positions are available on the Central Coast, with 31 hours 15 minutes per week.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance.
• Mandatory training required by the Department of Education and willingness to undertake first aid training.
• Administration of Medications – training provided.
• Health support training – provided.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs in classrooms and other learning environments under teacher supervision.
• Support student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• May provide specific support for students in streams/settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual.
• Work under direction and supervision of a teacher to support educational outcomes.
