Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools is seeking an assistant principal in Alabama to provide leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating the instructional program. The role supports policy interpretation, staff evaluation, and student attendance improvement.

The successful candidate will assist with supervision of students, curriculum development, and coordination of committees, with responsibility in the absence of the principal and for building security and maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and valid certification in teaching and school administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional program as assigned.
• Assist in interpreting and enforcing local, state, and federal policies, regulations and laws.
• Assist with the evaluation of teachers and support staff as assigned.
• Assist in improving student attendance; monitor class attendance.
• Assist with the supervision of students.
• Assume overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
• Be on call when necessary to provide proper building security and building maintenance, and to handle emergency situations.
• Maintain records, complete reports and work orders, develop plans and other documents; forward documents, if required, to appropriate agencies in a timely manner as directed.
• Conference with students, parents, and employees as assigned.
• Drive vehicles to accomplish assigned work tasks; promptly report loss of credentials to operate vehicles.
