Job summary

Located in the school, the Food Service Worker performs cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area.

This position requires fluency in English, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a strong commitment to safety and sanitation in a school environment. You will work as part of a dining services team to support meals and special events.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 1 year of work experience or vocational training in cleaning, food preparation, or related tasks preferred.
• Certain positions may require a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc., and stores them in assigned areas.
• Maintains products at required levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas.
• Stocks storage areas with various products.
• Cleans and maintains dining, kitchen, or storage areas and equipment; cleans floors.
• Removes garbage and sets up/breaks down tables, snack bars, and serving lines.
• Assists with large periodic cleaning projects.
• Assists cooks and coordinates activities with others; may assist with cooking occasionally.
• Performs other duties as needed to support the department or unit.
