Job summary

Spring Ridge Middle School in Lexington Park, Maryland is seeking a Food Service Assistant Manager for a six-hour shift within the School Nutrition Services. The role supports daily breakfast, lunch, after-school snacks and supper preparations under the guidance of the Food Service Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of food service experience required.
• Must possess a valid ServeSafe certification or obtain within three months of hire.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Follows and enforces departmental policies and procedures in the operation of a school cafeteria.
• Assist cafeteria manager with early dismissal days, delayed openings, field trips, and other meal schedule adjustments.
• Prepare food as per menus with standardized recipes and portion controls.
• Check and record temperatures of food in daily logs and maintain proper temperatures.
• Assist manager with placing orders for food and kitchen supplies.
• Assist manager with receiving and storing food and supplies per policies and procedures.
• Assist with financial and inventory records.
• Serve food on the line and set up serving areas.
• Operate a computerized point of sale system.
• Operate a dishwasher and wash pots/pans in a three-compartment sink.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and spaces; maintain high quality food prep and customer service.
• Work effectively as part of a team; participate in promotions of new items and nutrition education.
