Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Specialist to prepare, portion, and serve meals to students in a busy cafeteria. You will follow recipes, monitor kitchen processes, and maintain sanitation while assisting with cleaning and setup for the next day.

The role requires basic math, ability to operate kitchen equipment, and the stamina to work on your feet for extended periods. A high school diploma is preferred, with potential overtime and a path to growth within IDEA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred but not required.
• 1+ year(s) of experience in a physically active role or standing for long hours.
• Moving cafeteria tables daily and disposing of garbage.
• Food Handler’s Permit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion and serve food to IDEA students.
• Read recipes and follow production processes.
• Operate ovens, slicer, steamer and other kitchen equipment.
• Clean and reset the kitchen for the next day.
• Support cafeteria operations; potential overtime and weekend work.
