Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Community Nutrition Program Food Service Specialist to assist with meal preparation, service, and safety for students. The role emphasizes customer service, staff interaction, and maintaining clean food service spaces on a busy campus.

You will operate food service equipment, follow recipes, and work under the Cafeteria Manager to ensure timely meals and adherence to nutrition guidelines, with opportunities for professional development and family engagement.

Qualifications

• 1+ years work experience demonstrating ability to handle physical activity for multiple hours on feet.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds solo and up to 50 pounds with a partner, bend, pull, push, twist, stand, and walk during shift.
• Ability to obtain a locally-recognized manager food safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the food preparation, food safety and food quality assurance for the students.
• Provide customer service and interact with staff, students and family on a daily basis.
• Operate food service equipment and maintain spaces and equipment; notify manager of equipment malfunction.
• Assist in cafeteria cleaning duties: sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, disposing of trash, moving tables and vending stations.
• Load and unload food and non-food products on a weekly basis.
• Encourage students to participate in the meal program and ensure meals are accurate and reimbursable.
