Job summary

The Gardner School in Nashville is hiring a School Kitchen Manager to lead daily kitchen operations, plan menus with the director, and manage inventory and meals for a state-of-the-art preschool. You’ll ensure safe food handling and accurate preparation for children across multiple classrooms.

We seek a candidate with SafeServe certification or willingness to obtain it, strong communication, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current SafeServe certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Experience with large-volume meal preparation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of dietary allergies and food safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Confirm weekly menus with school director.
• Adhere to the school's budgetary needs and maintain inventory.
• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus.
• Ensure food is cooked and served at the correct temperature.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized and organized kitchen area.
• Dishwashing and general kitchen duties.
• Follow food state and federal safety, sanitation and nutrition guidelines.
• Assist in classrooms and other areas as needed.
