Qualifications

• Completion of four units of State School Food Service training or culinary degree.
• ServSafe Certification is required by Delaware Food Code.
• Knowledge of sanitation precautions and HACCP guidelines.
• Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements.
• Possess basic computer skills (email, Excel, POS).
• Cooperative attitude; ability to work with students, staff and management.
• Physically able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Punctual and reliable with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure meals meet USDA meal requirements and align with published menus.
• Coordinate kitchen workflow and delegate tasks to staff.
• Perform duties of cook or general worker when needed.
• Maintain inventories, time sheets and daily records for the Manager.
• Advise Manager on food, supplies, and equipment needs.
• Follow safe food handling practices and HACCP standards.
• Keep work and storage areas clean and sanitary.
• Assist Manager in training new hires.
• Ensure proper use and sanitation of kitchen equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
• Display hygiene and grooming standards; cooperate with staff and management.
