Job summary

Kanawha County Public Schools seeks a Cook I-III or Cafeteria Manager to perform cooking and baking duties in the school cafeteria, following nutritionally sound menus. The role may include inventory, record keeping, and computer input; and may assume duties of the Cafeteria Manager in their absence.

Position requires training for quantity cooking, ability to work with minimal supervision, and physical stamina for standing and operating commercial food service equipment in a school setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent as required by WV Code §18A-2-5.
• Criminal background check conducted as per WV Code §18A-5-15c.
• Holds and maintains a current County Board of Health Food Service Worker's Permit.

Responsibilities

• Review weekly menus and plan food preparation schedules.
• Prepare menus for daily service and maintain temperature readings.
• Assemble, measure, and mix ingredients; follow directions.
• Supervise or assist as Cafeteria Manager and inspect food ready for service.
• Maintain records of receipts, inventories, and food temperatures.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment; ensure sanitary standards.
• Trains substitutes and coordinates with school programs for events.
