Job summary

Meriwether Godsey, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Cook for daily meals and special events at The Governor's Academy in Byfield, MA. The role covers preparation, cooking, and presentation across a busy school environment.

You will work Sunday-Thursday or weekend shifts, with free meals and opportunities for growth; prior kitchen experience and ServSafe certification are preferred. Join a fast-paced, team-driven setting focused on high-quality food service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of cook experience in production kitchen or contract dining.
• ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with high-volume school food service.
• Ability to measure ingredients and convert units.
• High levels of professionalism, strong communication, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to switch between locations and duties.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Growing knowledge of sustainable practices.
• Must be able to pass the employment background process.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and portion meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, cereals, soups, sauces, fruits, bread, desserts, and other food items.
• Prepare items in batches to serving time to ensure quality and prevent over-production.
• Follow recipes and suggest changes to improve quality and presentation.
• Cook, maintain, and store all foods at required temperatures.
• Record temperatures and ensure food safety standards.
• Maintain production records for forecasting and leftovers.
• Organize and sanitize coolers, freezers, and storerooms.
• Attend daily production meetings and discuss leftovers and efficiency.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
