Job summary

Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a positive General Assistant (Cook 1) for our school kitchen. You will work 12.5 hours per week across 38 weeks, with shifts from 11:45am to 14:15pm, Monday to Friday, starting at £13.74 per hour.

No prior experience is required as full training will be provided, including Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness. This role involves serving meals, kitchen duties, cash handling, and light cleaning in a supportive educational environment.

Qualifications

• Experience is not required as full training will be given.
• Basic Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals and contribute to a smooth dining room operation.
• Set up, decant and service area preparation for meals.
• Handle cash as required during service.
• Dishwashing and general kitchen duties throughout shifts.
• Clear down, clean kitchens and staff rest areas at end of service.
• Complete electronic paperwork related to meals and attendance.
