Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Cook to join the Food Service Team at Watkins Middle School in Houston. This 4-hour position (9:00 am - 1:00 pm) prepares and serves meals, and supports a sanitary kitchen under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic math skills, and the ability to follow safety guidelines. Pay is based on the negotiated agreement and applicable district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Work skills verified by training and/or work experience.
• Able to perform accurate math calculations.
• Demonstrates flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and willingness to take on tasks.
• Maintains high ethical standards and personal responsibility.
• Criminal background acceptable for district employment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and operate kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food and maintains an orderly, sanitary kitchen.
• Receives deliveries and follows food safety procedures; verifies quantities.
• Tracks food usage; rotates stock; follows menus and standardized recipes.
• Complies with USDA child nutrition guidelines and reduces waste.
• Sets up serving lines and maintains attractive food presentation; restocks as needed.
• Operates POS system and processes payments following district guidelines.
• Protects privacy of free/reduced-price meal information; documents meals served.
• Records daily charges; reconciles, deposits, and submits paperwork.
