Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior food service experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Good verbal and written communication with students and staff.
• Ability to read, comprehend and interpret simple instructions.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Open the kitchen daily and begin set-up for meal preparation and service.
• Oversee preparation of all school meals and assist in daily preparation and serving of food according to planned menus.
• Supervise production and ensure proper serving of meals in alignment with nutrition guidelines.
• Receive and verify supply deliveries, ensure stock rotation, and maintain inventory and production records.
• Operate POS systems, receive payments, and reconcile daily receipts; utilize basic computer skills as necessary.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness in kitchen and storage facilities.
• Train, assign, and direct work activities of other Kitchen/Cafeteria staff.
• Attend district food service meetings and professional development training sessions.
• Monitor freezers, refrigerators, and other equipment to ensure proper operating temperatures and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety guidelines and regulatory compliance.
• Report hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications and professional development as needed.
• Minimum of six hours of Professional Standards Training is required by May 1st annually.
