Job summary

Sylvania at Discovery Middle School is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Food Service department. The role involves preparing, cooking and presenting meals according to recipes and state guidelines, for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks.

Under limited supervision of the Kitchen Manager, you will help with setup, replenishment, FIFO, and food safety practices, and assist with training of staff and students as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience in institutional food service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food to standardized recipes for breakfast, lunch and snacks.
• Assist kitchen staff with setup, replenishment, FIFO and food safety.
• Maintain clean, sanitary production and storage areas and uphold Minnesota guidelines.
