Job summary

State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS), is seeking an Assistant Cook to join our staff at J.M. Wright Technical High School in Stamford. The role supports preparation and cooking of diverse meals for students and staff in a 6:00AM–2:00PM school-year schedule.

You will maintain a clean kitchen, adhere to safety guidelines, assist with deliveries, production records, and meal packaging, and help cover for the cook as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in basic food preparation and serving is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced school kitchen and follow routines.
• Basic computer skills including email for coordination.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve complete daily meals.
• Follow basic food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Interact with students, faculty and staff in a respectful manner.
• Operate kitchen equipment and assist with receiving and storing food.
