Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated school health assistant to support the school nurse in delivering student health services. The role includes assisting with the daily clinic operations, managing student check-ins, and providing limited medical care as directed.

Ideal candidates will hold a high school diploma or GED and possess CNA/CMA/PCT or EMT/LPN credentials with active BLS CPR/AED.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED and be certified or have passed an exam for CNA/CMA/PCT or be licensed EMT/LPN in Virginia.
• Active BLS CPR/AED certification with hands-on training and 1–3 years of experience.
• Must maintain confidentiality and handle records and reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist the school nurse in daily clinic operations.
• Inform the nurse of urgent student needs.
• Provide medical advice as directed by the nurse.
• Administer care and contact parents as appropriate.
• Assist with medications per nurse's direction.
• Sign students in and out of the clinic and document visit reasons.
• Take student temperatures when needed.
• Assist with screening programs and medically involved students as directed.
• Maintain clinic records and reports and complete tasks on schedule.
• Provide minor care and first aid as authorized.
