Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus is seeking a Part-time Patient Access Representative to greet, register patients, schedule appointments, and handle the main scheduling line. The role supports School Based Dental and Primary Care teams, with 7:30-4:30 day shifts, and sites rotate every 6-8 weeks within Columbus City and Reynoldsburg School Districts.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma, CPR, and one year of health care experience; front office and computer skills are essential

• Obtains accurate demographic, insurance, and physician information on registrations.
• Screens customer data to ensure patient is eligible for insurance indicated.
• Communicates differences to the customer.
• Screens registrations to ensure insurance pre-certification and physician referral requirements are met.
• Instructs customer on requirements.
• Assists in identifying self-pay patients and referring them to financial assistance when applicable.
• Instructs customer on requirements.
• Establishes and maintains open communication with the all departments that Patient Access interacts with and clinical staff in those areas.
• Assists in the shadowing/precepting of new employees.

Parttime, benefits eligible role Hours are day shift M-F between 7:30-4:30 based on School location and hours. 24 hours per week This position will work with our School Based Dental and Primary Care teams, assisting with patient registration and check-in, appointment scheduling and assistance in answering our main scheduling line. The position will have dedicated days working with the Dental team, but the sites will move locations every 6-8 weeks within the Columbus City and Reynoldsburg School Districts. Front Office Dental experience preferred but not required.
