Job summary

Big Spring ISD is seeking a full-time Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to implement a comprehensive campus health program and provide direct health services to students at Big Spring Junior High in Big Spring, Texas. The role requires two years of nursing experience (preferably in community health), Texas licensure, and CPR certification.

Responsibilities include administering medications, coordinating screenings, and educating staff on health issues, with strong organizational and communication

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
• Valid LVN license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
• Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
• CPR Certification.
• Two years nursing experience, preferably in community health.

Responsibilities

• Serve as health advocate for students.
• Notify parents of accident or illness and secure medical care for students in emergencies.
• Coordinate management system to administer medications to students at school.
• Establish and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs.
• Develop and coordinate continuing evaluation of campus health program and make changes based on findings.
• Develop health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
• Educate faculty and staff on health topics.
• Provide health counseling and instruction to individual students.
• Serve as health liaison between school, physicians, parents, and community.
• Assess student problems and make referrals with teachers, parents, and health professionals.
• Participate in IEP items and collaboration on health-related goals.
• Communicate regularly with principal and health services coordinator.
