Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing education program.
• Valid LVN license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
• Certified to conduct vision and hearing screening.
• CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as health advocate for students.
• Notify parents of accident or illness and secure medical care in emergencies.
• Coordinate administration of medications at school per district policy.
• Establish and implement procedures for mandatory screening programs.
• Develop and coordinate ongoing evaluation of campus health programs.
• Participate in health education curriculum development and delivery.
• Educate faculty and staff on health topics as needed.
• Provide health counseling and instruction to students.
• Serve as health liaison between school, physicians, parents, and community.
• Assess student problems and make appropriate referrals with staff and families.
• Participate in committees and assist with IEP health-related items.
• Comply with policies and maintain health records per regulations.
• Maintain professional nursing skills per Texas Nurse Practice Act and BNE.
