Job summary

Spring Branch Independent School District is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to implement individual student health plans, provide preventive care, health education, and promote a healthful school environment.

Responsibilities include nursing services under guidance, administering medications, and assisting with health management for medically fragile students, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and collaborating with the school nurse and staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited professional LVN nursing education program.
• Hold or pursue certification in basic first aid and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct and indirect guidance and direction of a licensed registered nurse.
• Provide direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process and established school health protocols to student(s) according to district policy.
• Carry out specialized health care procedures as trained and directed by school nurse.
• Serve as health advocate for students. Notify the campus school nurse of accident or illness.
• Secure medical care for students in emergency cases. Administer medications to student(s) at school.
• Assist the RN in developing health management plans and provide clinical case management for medically fragile students.
• Assist with screening activities including weight/height, vision/hearing, scoliosis, lice screening and diabetes screening.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
