Job summary

The State of Florida Department of Health in Leon County is seeking an OPS Licensed Practical Nurse to support school health services in the Leon County Schools Health Clinic. Under supervision of the RN Specialist, you will assist in delivering health services to students, staff, families and visitors during the 10‑month school year calendar.

Responsibilities include triaging student health concerns, administering medications per policy, monitoring diabetic students, maintaining health records,

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and listen effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to interview students to obtain health information.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Basic knowledge of computers and data entry.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines for student’s medical records.

Responsibilities

• Triage student complaints and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
• Implement health services laws and school health policies.
• Maintain health room statistics for HMS, EARS, and FOCUS.
• Handle clerical duties: filing, documenting health services, inventory.
• Administer medications and monitor diabetic students as required.
• Communicate medical information to parents, nurses, and staff.
