Job summary

Sandy Spring Friends School seeks a Health Center Assistant to join the Health Care Team. You will deliver care to students and campers, administer medications under RN supervision, and manage routine and acute health needs across the campus.

The role requires MA or EMT-B certification, CPR/BLS, and the ability to obtain Maryland CMT license within 90 days. Experience in first aid, emergency management, and a passion for working with youth are essential.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant (MA) certification OR EMT-B preferred.
• Current CPR/First Aid (Adult/Child) or BLS certification.
• Experience in first aid and emergency management.
• Desire to work with children and young adults.
• Knowledge of Veracross platforms preferred.
• Ability to obtain Maryland CMT License within 90 days of hire (employer paid).

Responsibilities

• Follow standards for school and camp health staff as per SSFS, Montgomery County, MD State, and the American Camp Association.
• Organize, maintain, and utilize Health Center resources appropriately.
• Assist with health documentation updates and filing.
• Assist with intake, storage, and inventory of medications.
• Administer medications under RN guidance (CMT required).
• Provide basic nursing care per established protocols.
• Use EHR to document encounters.
• Respond to and record campus emergencies.
• Notify parents and staff and follow up as appropriate.
• Support health-related events and staff trainings (flu & covid clinics, blood drives, CPR/First-Aid).
• Check and maintain campus emergency supplies (AEDs, EpiPens, Naloxone).
• Assist with employee health forms management.
• Care for homestay international students.
