Job summary

Ionia County ISD is seeking a Health Care Aide to support classrooms serving students with cognitive or health-related needs. You will provide physical support, assist with mobility and transfers, and help implement behavior intervention plans under teacher supervision.

The role involves supervising students in structured and unstructured settings, contributing to a positive educational environment while ensuring safety and compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to interact with professionals and health care aides in providing a positive educational experience for children.
• Physical ability to safely lift students as needed: 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical support to students with varying strength and limited mobility including wheelchair transfers and lift equipment.
• Implements program-wide and individual student behavior intervention programs, including monitoring behavior data collection, preparing incident reports, physical intervention and reward system under the direction of classroom teachers.
• Supervises and monitors students within classroom activities as well as non-structured settings (i.e. arrival, departure, lunch, field trips and recess).
