Gilroy Unified School District Maintenance in Gilroy, CA is seeking a Grounds Worker with a Tuesday–Saturday schedule. Working 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, 12-month year, you will perform grounds gardening, maintenance, and related tasks across district sites.

Starting immediately, the role requires knowledge of grounds keeping, the ability to read instructions, and physical ability to lift heavy weights. Salary ranges from $23.26 to $29.68 per hour, with benefits typical of district-maintained operations.

Qualifications

Valid California Driver’s License
Knowledge of grounds keeping and gardening methods
Ability to read and follow both oral and written instructions
Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds

Responsibilities

Plants, cultivates, prunes, shapes, trims, waters, and sprays trees and shrubs
Mows, waters lawns and maintains landscaped areas
Operates hand and power tools and equipment such as mowers, edgers, sweepers, and tractors
Cleans gutters, sprinklers, and drainage areas; maintains equipment
Assists with installing and repairing sprinkler systems; helps prepare athletic fields
Drives dump trucks/tractors as assigned; operates a forklift as needed
Moves furniture and assists with custodial and maintenance tasks as required
