Job summary

Mt. Diablo Unified School District Maintenance Building is seeking a Grounds Worker I to support general grounds maintenance and gardening tasks. The role reports to the Landscape Manager and may operate various power equipment as part of a crew delivering safe, well-kept school facilities.

Primary duties include pruning, planting, fertilizing, sod work, weed management, and collaboration with team members on projects and work orders. 8-hour days, 260 workdays per year, full-time status.

Responsibilities

• Operates power equipment such as hedgers, blowers, weed eaters, edgers, and chainsaws.
• Performs pruning of trees and shrubs to beautify facilities and enhance safety.
• Fertilizes, plants, sods, hauls, digs and loads as requested.
• Weeds, rakes leaves and lawns, and maintains grounds around plants and shrubs.
• Assists in weed abatement including chemical applications under licensed supervision.
• Mows with push mowers and lawn edger; maintains and inventories equipment.
