Job summary

The School Board of Highlands County is seeking a General Worker to support food service operations. The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift and move food items, and the capacity to stand for extended periods. You will assist with daily service, sanitation, and inventory tasks.

Responsibilities include following recipes, preparing foods, handling cash at the point of sale, and maintaining safety standards in a school environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel or stoop to move objects up to 6 feet high.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Directly report to the Food Service Manager for duties performed to standard.
• Observe sanitation and safety rules.
• Assist with food service operations during emergencies.
• Interact courteously with the public.
• Maintain good working relationships with managers and staff.
• Prepare food and baked goods as directed.
• Follow recipes and production planning sheets.
• Obtain, weigh and measure products for menus as needed.
• Package and store foods in compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor serving line and ensure adequate food supply.
• Operate cash handling and POS system as needed.
• Assist in ordering and inventory of products and services.
• Complete annual USDA professional standards training.
