Job summary

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a food service worker for a nine-month term with summer breaks. The role supports meal preparation and service in a school environment, with hours aligned to the district schedule (8:00am–1:30pm). Flexible hours and a requirement to handle food and maintain sanitation are noted.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to encourage and support a team atmosphere.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate general food service tasks including preparation and handling.
• Assist with cooking as needed and ensure food quality.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, and utensils; participate in serving meals.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch and verify reimbursable meals.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Maintain open communication with staff and customers.
• Attend trainings and follow facility procedures.
• Work as scheduled and be punctual; flex hours as needed.
