Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is hiring a Food Service Assistant at Fountaindale Elementary School. The role supports nutrition services with meal preparation, serving students and adults, and maintaining sanitary kitchen operations.

The position requires a Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain within one year, and a commitment to regular attendance. The shift is 5.75 hours per day during a 10-month work year (7:00 am–1:15 pm with a 30 minute break).

Qualifications

• Serv-Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and take direction.
• Willingness to be assigned at any site within the base operation.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or assist in preparing food as assigned.
• Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
• Report food supply needs and problems to the Site Supervisor.
• Serve food to students and adults using portion control standards.
• Maintain a clean work area and safe food handling practices.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with various phases of kitchen operations as needed.
• Operate computerized cash register system.
