Job summary

Dekalb Academy of Technology & Environment Charter School is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance on school facilities and systems at the Stone Mountain campus. The role involves HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and minor electrical work, handling work orders, and coordinating with vendors to minimize disruption to classrooms.

The position requires basic technical skills, ability to read work orders, and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

Strong equipment maintenance and repair skills for building systems and facilities.
Experience with preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
Effective troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and facility issues.
Background in industrial maintenance or similar environment preferred.
Knowledge of basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair techniques.
Able to read and follow work orders and safety procedures.
Physically capable of lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
High school diploma or equivalent; trade training is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and minor electrical systems.
Address work orders and urgent maintenance requests.
Conduct regular facility checks and provide custodial/grounds support as needed.
