Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a part-time Building Custodian (Substitute) to clean, disinfect, and maintain school facilities. The role includes set-up/clean-up for events, assisting with maintenance, and ensuring safety and security during shifts.

Responsibilities include general cleaning, securing the facility, and supporting after-hours activities. Candidates should perform tasks with reliability and provide high-level customer service to staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; background check required.
• Criminal background check and clean driving record may be required.
• Ability to perform cleaning, sanitation and minor maintenance tasks.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties: cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing and trash removal across classrooms, offices, cafeterias, labs, gyms and exterior grounds.
• Provide setup and cleanup for events; assist with furniture and supplies delivery.
• Secure and monitor the facility; report hazards.
• Report supply and equipment needs; perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and use SDS where required.
• Respond to emergencies; assist with renovations or special cleaning as needed.
