Job summary

You will work with licensed tradespeople on larger projects, conduct preventative tasks, and respond to after-hours calls as needed, ensuring records are accurate and tasks are prioritized efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years of building maintenance or construction experience.
• Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and mechanical systems.
• Must pass a background check per district requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and masonry systems.
• Diagnose and fix minor issues with doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings and furniture.
• Conduct preventative maintenance such as filter changes and safety inspections.
• Install and maintain classroom fixtures, restroom equipment, and cafeteria hardware.
• Assist licensed tradespeople with larger projects as needed.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly during and after school hours.
• Maintain records of work performed, materials used and time spent.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, district safety standards and Alabama codes.
• Provide support during events, severe weather responses and emergency closures.
