Job summary

Saugus Public Schools is seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Technician to oversee the operation of school facilities, ensure readiness for daily activities and events, and respond to safety issues to maintain a safe learning environment.

You will coordinate facility setups, manage building and grounds maintenance, inspections, and safety compliance, and work with town departments and outside contractors; strong preference for candidates with 3–5 years of maintenance experience and a valid

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in commercial, educational or municipal building maintenance.
• Valid driving license with a clean driving record.
• Practical knowledge of basic electrical repair, plumbing, carpentry, hardware and HVAC preventative maintenance.
• Ability to use electronic work-order management systems, basic computer applications and email.
• Special consideration will be given to candidates holding trade certifications or licenses.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the physical operation of the schools and their programs.
• Ensure facility readiness for day-to-day operations and special events.
• Inspect school facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Respond to safety issues to maintain a functioning educational environment.
• Coordinate facility setups and technical equipment for various activities.
• Coordinate with town departments and outside contractors to complete projects.
• Supervise part-time maintenance staff and manage inventory for supplies.
