Job summary

Poplarville School District is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment across district facilities. The role emphasizes daily cleaning, upkeep, and safe handling of cleaning supplies, with attention to district policies and procedures.

You will report to the Director of Field Operations and collaborate with the Building and Grounds team to keep classrooms, halls and outdoor spaces in good order for students and staff.

Qualifications

• General maintenance, upkeep and repair responsibilities.
• Compliance with laws, district policies, and team procedures related to cleaning chemicals and waste handling.
• Inventory management of supplies, equipment, and fuel with proactive requisitions.
• Maintains neat, clean building and premises including sidewalks and play areas.
• Daily classroom sweeping and cleaning of corridors.
• Disinfection of toilet floors and sanitary fixtures daily.
• Groundskeeping duties as assigned to maintain the property.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
• Complies with laws, district policies, and team procedures pertaining to use of chemicals and handling of waste.
• Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel and requisitions replacements in advance.
• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Sweeps classrooms daily.
• Cleans corridors for the start of the school day and as needed during the day.
• Disinfects toilet floors and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
• Keeps the grounds free from litter.
• Works with the Building and Grounds Worker on yard keeping chores as needed.
