Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools seeks a full-time Custodian to maintain cafeterias, classrooms, and common areas at District 209 facilities. You will clean and sanitize floors, counters and dining spaces, and help with waste disposal and recycling.

Responsibilities include snow/ice management, event setup, minor repairs, and reporting safety hazards. The role requires physical labor and the ability to work independently or with a team within a unionized environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform physical labor and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize cafeteria floors, tables, chairs, counters and food prep areas daily.
• Sweep, mop and disinfect kitchen and dining area floors; remove grease and spills.
• Organize cafeteria equipment, utensils and storage areas.
• Empty trash and replace liners; ensure waste and recycling disposal.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen appliances and work surfaces.
• Assist with snow removal and ice management for entrances and walkways.
• Set up and take down furniture, tables and equipment for events or activities.
• Maintain common areas, hallways and entrances in clean order.
• Enter school duties for building repairs and closeout when complete.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
