Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a full-time Custodial staff member to perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and safety tasks across buildings. The role requires planning daily work, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring secure opening and closing procedures.

The position emphasizes dependability, clear communication with school personnel, and adherence to safety guidelines while handling cleaning equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Entry not requires extensive experience; willing to train new staff
• Commitment to safety and building cleanliness

Responsibilities

• Plan work schedule according to direction of building administration.
• Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
• Open and close the building each school day.
• Establish procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
• Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule for floors, boards, wastebaskets, windows and restrooms.
• Keep the school building and grounds neat and clean including sidewalks and parking areas.
• Observe and inform supervisor of safety hazards.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order as needed.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
• Follow all safety codes and standards.
• Assist visitors with directions and setup of equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
