Job summary

Dayton Area School Consortium is seeking a Custodian to perform general cleaning, maintenance, and custodial assistance within school buildings and grounds under supervision of school administrators.

Responsibilities include routine cleaning, floor care, waste management, snow removal, and assisting with events and deliveries. Prior cleaning maintenance experience is desirable; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.
• [State] Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure building at beginning and end of shift for safety and cleanliness.
• Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways and other areas according to district standards.
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip and wax floors.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstery and blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills.
• Remove graffiti; clean glass areas.
• Setup and breakdown chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms.
• Clear snow from entrances and walks and spread ice-melting chemicals.
• Perform grounds-keeping duties and manage debris.
• Receive deliveries and assist with unloading trucks and storing supplies.
• Deliver supplies and materials to classrooms and other areas.
• Empty wastebaskets and participate in recycling program.
