Qualifications

• No experience is required for this position, but training or prior work in janitorial/custodial roles is welcomed.
• Experience in grounds maintenance or general labor can be considered.
• Temporary Assignment experience may be relevant and must be documented if used.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and mops floors, hallways, stairways and classrooms.
• Wipes, dusts and polishes furniture and metal work.
• Cleans woodwork, walls, venetian blinds, fixtures and windows.
• Cleans lavatories and restrooms; disinfects.
• Cleans water fountains and wash basins.
• Maintains lawns: waters, weeds and topsoil.
• Mows areas not accessible to power mowers.
• Picks up rubbish and leaves.
• Assists in trimming hedges and trees.
• Plants and fertilizes shrubbery and flowers.
• Propagates and transplants plants.
• Moves heavy objects and transports supplies.
• Loads/unloads and distributes supplies and equipment.
• Replaces toilet components and bulbs.
• Makes simple repairs to doors/windows etc.
• Operates cleaning equipment like vacuums and polishers.
• Removes stains from carpets; shampooing may be used.
